The big question we all have is what to have in our golf bag and what golf accessories will enhance our golf game, however, there are some basic essentials that you should always have in your golf bag that you sometimes fail to replenish because you haven’t prepared yourself for your golf day out!
What I mean by essentials that you should always have in your bag that you will always need are:
• Golf Balls
• Spare Golf Glove
• Golf Tees of all different sizes
• Pencil or a pen for scoring
• A Golf Cap or hat
• Felt tip pen or marker to personalise your golf ball
• Spare battery for your range finder if you own one
• Golf Club bag or Golf Club Headcovers just in case of inclement weather
• Pitch repairer
• Golf Ball Marker
• Golf Club cleaner or brush
This seems like a long list of what you must have but when you think about it they are pretty basic requirements that even with the smallest golf bag you can quite easily have these items stored away for all of your golf days – just in case, because you will need all of them during most rounds of golf.
I work in a golf pro shop and I am amazed by a number of golfers that are so ill-prepared for their game, some golfers come in and have to buy socks which always seems like a barmy request to me but the majority of the golfers are always buying golf equipment at the last minute, not only do they have to pay top prices but they always seem to be rushing and arriving at the last minute.
Being prepared for your round and arriving at least 45 minutes before your tee off time enables you to do so many additional things and not be rushed at the last minute, time to have a practice putt, a possible warm up on the golf driving range if the golf course has one, stock up with a drink for your round and even have a bit to eat – all of these will improve your scores by not being rushed!
Knowing that you have got plenty of required golf equipment and golf accessories in your golf bag takes a lot of pressure off of yourself and trust me it will show in your golf scores, this is very apparent at this time of year when a lot of golfers are dusting off the cobwebs off of their golf equipment because the end of winter and colder weather slowly comes to an end.
Your last round of golf might have been 2 or 3 months ago so if you are planning a round of golf soon they I would strongly recommend sorting through your golf bag and replenishing the golf equipment that you will need for your first outing of the year, that also includes giving your golf clubs a once over and a clean-up, there is nothing worse than trying to hit a golf shot with mud on your clubs that has been on them for 2 or 3 months.
So check out your golf bag, stock up on the essentials that are needed and give those golf clubs of yours a good clean, it will definitely make a difference when you venture out for your first round of the season.
