PGA Tour Leaderboard

What a week it has been on the tour and after 180 starts on the tour Kevin Chappell finally finished at the top of the PGA Tour Leaderboard by winning the Valero Texas Open, he rolled in the winning putt from just over 8 feet to take the title, so he finally made the breakthrough and rightfully so, he thoroughly deserved it.

6 years ago he lost out on the chance to win the Valero Texas Open by finishing solo second to Brendan Steele after a late bogey in his round which cost him a chance to have a playoff, so this win was a long time coming, hopefully now that he has got that big fat monkey off of his back he can now go on and win further titles on the tour and see his name more regularly on the PGA Tour Leaderboard. PGA Tour Leaderboard - Kevin Chappell

With the win a winning celebration followed, after so many near misses to his credit I am sure that the celebration was just a blur for Kevin Chappell, but I am sure that by having his wife Elizabeth and his two young children close by it made it that extra special for him to relish the win, his wife made the comment that she didn’t believe by having so many 2nd place finishes it had become a burden for him, she knew as all golf fans around the world knew it was just a matter of time.

Now Kevin can head on over to New Orleans to compete in the 2017 Zurich Classic with his partner Gary Woodland to give him support, it is a pretty unique event in the fact that it is a team event and will feature Foursomes (alternate shot) during the first and third rounds and Four-Ball (best ball) during the second and fourth rounds. The starting field will consist of 80 teams (160 players).

Each of the top available players from the PGA TOUR Priority Rankings who commits to the tournament will choose his partner, who in turn must have PGA TOUR status unless he is chosen as a tournament sponsor exemption.

So fingers crossed it might be a great 2 weeks for Kevin Chappell alongside his playing partner Gary Woodland in New Orleans, it will be like a mini Ryder Cup for some of the field participating this weekend, will surely be fun for all the players and may the best team win.

I hope that this article about Kevin Chappell’s maiden victory to put his name on the top of the PGA Tour Leaderboard was informative and if you have any questions regarding this article please do not hesitate to leave me a comment below I will be glad to respond to any comments left.

Happy Golfing as Always.
