The PGA Championship 2018

It seems like only yesterday that we golf fans around the globe were counting down the start of this year’s US Masters at Augusta so will the PGA Championship 2018 round off the year in style at the Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis Missouri? The PGA Championship 2018 - Dates of the PGA

The PGA Championship 2018

Justin Thomas is the reigning PGA Champion so will he be looking to add another PGA Championship to his resume – you bet he will – even though he has had a pretty lean year in comparison to other seasons you can guarantee that he will be giving his all to retain the trophy once again this year at Bellerive Country Club.

Bellerive Country Club is a par 70 measuring 7,431 yards off of the championship tees so will be a challenging test for the world’s top players and the total field of 156 players who are exempt to play or the other players who qualify to play this final golf major of the year.

The PGA Championship 2018

The Bellerive Country Club has hosted one other PGA Championship prior to this so this will be the second time that this final major of the year will be played at Bellerive, plus this will be the final year that the PGA Championship will be the final major of the year, as of 2019 the PGA Championship will be played in the month of May so will then become the 2nd golf major of the year – so whoever wins this year’s PGA Championship will be the shortest reigning champion adding up to a total of 8 months!

So there we have a very illustrious list of previous winners of the final major of the calendar year so who has a chance of adding the PGA Championship 2018 to their resume?

The PGA Championship 2018

After winning the Open Championship at Carnoustie you cannot right off Francesco Molinari, he finished runner-up to Justin Thomas at last year’s PGA Championship so he clearly has his eye in at the moment but maybe just maybe the weight of winning the Open Championship recently might have taken his toll on him but he still has a good chance if he turns up with his A-game once again!

You certainly cannot write off either Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy either for this year’s PGA championship either, between them they have won this tournament 6 times, 4 for Tiger and 2 for Rory so they both can be considered serious contenders considering their recent form as well?
