Get prepared for the golf season ahead

If you are serious about your golf then you need to get prepared for the golf season ahead, I am not just talking about dusting the cobwebs off of your golf clubs but seriously getting prepared!

Practice or play golf regularly

I know we are in the winter in the northern hemisphere but we can still visit the driving range if the weather does not permit playing at this time of year, going to the driving range is not all about trying to bomb drivers as far as you can hit it, going to the driving range should have a purpose. Get prepared for the golf season ahead - Row of golf bags

When I go to the driving range I imagine that I am playing 18 holes of golf at my local course, this then gives you a purpose and also makes you have to make the shot you are imagining, you should know your own course well enough and have played it enough to know whether you made good contact with the driver on the 1st tee then you can make the choice on your approach shot.

If you practice regularly with purpose your golf game will improve for the season ahead.

Custom Fit Golf Clubs

Without a doubt the majority of golfers I come into contact with play with the wrong golf clubs for their golf game and golf swing, if you are serious about improving your golf game then you must get yourself custom fitted for golf clubs, and it isn’t as expensive as you might think and once you have the correct golf clubs in your hand then the game does get easier I promise you.

Professional Golf Instruction

Even the best players in the world have regular coaching lessons so why doesn’t the average golfer? I myself being a low single figure handicapper I have a ‘fresher’ lesson every couple of months, this then irons out some little faults that have crept into my game and also gives me the opportunity to discuss with my golf pro some slight improvements or wishes I have for my game – remember we can all improve and you are never too old to learn more about your golf game.

Golf Distance charts

Every serious golfer needs to know how far they hit each golf club in their golf bag, knowing this information will seriously improve your game and enable you to hit a golf club with confidence knowing that you know your distances for all of your golf clubs – to read a more in-depth article on golf club distances READ MORE here. Get prepared for the golf season ahead - for the keen golfer - Garmin G6 Handheld

Mental Golf Game

Without a doubt this is the most important part of any golfers capability, if you have a strong mental approach and trust your golf swing your golf game will improve without a doubt, if you took Rory McIlroy’s golf game and put Jordan Spieth’s golfing mental game together then you would have a perfect golfer and would win everything in sight – but we all have flaws unfortunately and need to overcome them.

If you want to improve your mental golf game then look no further than reading the book by Dr Bob Rotella ‘Golf is not a game of Perfect’, it would be the best money you have spent on your golf game in a long time – here is a link to the book on Amazon – CLICK HERE.

There are many ways of improving your golf game but these few suggestions should cover 95% of where you want to be for the approaching golf season, they say that if you want to be proficient at anything whether it is learning a new language, learning to play the piano or playing better golf you need to put in 10,000 hours to get there!
