The only notable players that are in the world’s top elite that are playing is Henrik Stenson, Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson, apart from them it gives the rest of the PGA Tour players an opportunity to possibly gain a playing exemption for a longer period and also some much needed cash to get them up the FedEx Cup standings, so a lot to play for here this week in Memphis, Tennessee.

The TPC at Southwind is a very demanding golf course and defending champion Daniel Berger will no doubt be going out all over again to retain his title, playing a very tough and demanding par 70 the FedEx St. Jude Classic 2018 will no doubt produce another fantastic 4 days of tournament golf on the PGA Tour.

FedEx St Jude Classic 2018 - Daniel BergerThe FedEx St. Jude Classic 2018 is now in its 30th year at the host course TPC Southwind, some golf fans around the world wonder why the world’s elite golfers do not play this event, but the average weekend handicap golfer needs to fully understand that the US Open 2018 at Shinnecock Hills is one of the most demanding golf courses in the world, and even thought todays modern touring professional can hit the ball staggering distances they also need to understand that the US Open is the most mentally tough major to win the annual golfing calendar.

So even though the folks in Memphis would love to see a world ranked field, unfortunately, this event has to take a back seat in favour of preparation for the US Open 2018 the following week, if the golfing world wants to see the world’s top golfers compete at their maximum then it’s a sacrifice worth making.

But good luck to all of the field for this week’s FedEx St Jude Classic 2018 and hopefully see a worthy winner at the conclusion of the event on Sunday.
